About Yalanda

I built a small practice so I could keep looking deeper.

More than 30 years in healthcare taught me that the part left out of the story may be the part that changes it.

The piece we often miss

Emotion belongs in the assessment.

I believe the emotional connection to disease is one of the most misunderstood and neglected parts of an assessment. It is not an easy thing to measure, and it is too often treated as though acknowledging emotion makes a physical symptom less real. I believe the opposite: the symptom is real, and the emotional history may be one of the real pieces shaping it.

We tell ourselves we have moved past a death, a child’s pain, or the loss of the life we once knew. We may have learned to carry it quietly. Then the body begins speaking in ways that do not fit neatly on a laboratory report or an X-ray. That does not mean every unexplained symptom is emotional. It means grief, anger, fear, transition, and what has never been given words deserve a place in an honest conversation about health.

Sometimes the answer is not hormones. Sometimes it is an old injury, delayed care, a fear of medicine, or a history no one has asked about carefully enough. My work is not to force every story toward the same explanation. It is to stay curious long enough to ask what else may be true.

“The sorrow which has no vent in tears may make other organs weep.”

Why the practice stays small

Attention cannot be rushed.

I generally see no more than about eight patients in a clinical day. That is intentional. I want enough room to hear when the timeline shifts, notice what keeps repeating, and return to the detail that almost disappeared from the conversation.

You know your body because you live in it every day. I bring clinical experience, curiosity, and perspective. I expect you to participate in your care; when you do, I am willing to work just as hard beside you. The relationship is collaborative, but my answers will be honest—even when they are not the answers you hoped to hear.

I cannot be the provider for everyone, and I am not the right provider for every person. But when we decide to work together, I will dig deeply, work as hard as you do, and bring the same commitment you bring to reaching a better place.

A personal reason for the middle ground

What I witnessed changed what I look for.

My mother lived with nineteen prescription medications, and she died while still taking them. She trusted what her doctors told her and was not comfortable with alternatives. I do not blame her for that, and I would never claim another approach would have solved everything. Her generation trusted the model it was given.

Her experience left me searching for a responsible middle ground. Conventional medicine can be necessary and lifesaving. Functional medicine can widen the inquiry. Support from food, environment, movement, rest, and carefully chosen therapies can matter too. The goal is not to reject prescriptions or replace them with a shelf of supplements. It is to understand what is helping, what is no longer serving you, and what deserves a closer look—with medication decisions made safely alongside the appropriate prescriber.

What I hold sacred

Higher ground, not perfection.

I do not pretend there is a perfect body, a perfect protocol, or an escape from the imperfection that is part of being human. I am not perfect. I am still a work in progress. But the goal is not to give up.

Illness, decline, and death are realities of life. That truth does not make the work meaningless. It makes the life we can live now more worthy of our attention.

I try to help you reach higher ground: to ask the real questions, look a little deeper, and understand the choices in front of you without exaggerated promises. I take the time because I want to. This is work I value, and care I believe should still feel human.

Meet where you are

Two paths. One intention.

Some people are ready for the perspective Bioenergetic Testing offers. Others are ready to revisit the many pieces of their history through the Mosaic Medical Evaluation. Neither starting point is a test of belief. Each is a way to meet you where you are, create greater understanding, and bring the pieces into a more useful conversation. Together, they are the fullest expression of how I practice.
